There’s something about a Wyoming summer that is truly special. From the long days, to the wide skies, and a calendar full of community events, that reminds you there’s no better place to be than right here.
Whether you’re already calling Casper home or just getting curious, here’s a look at what’s happening around town this season.
June: Kicking Off Summer in True Wyoming Style
NIC Fest – June 6–8
Held downtown at the Nicolaysen Art Museum, NIC Fest is where art, music, and community meet. Stroll through dozens of artist booths, grab something sweet from a food truck, and let the kids run free with chalk in hand. It’s the kind of event that feels like summer officially showed up.
College National Finals Rodeo – June 15–21
This isn’t just a rodeo, it’s the rodeo. Athletes from across the country compete at the Ford Wyoming Center, bringing a high-energy week of bull riding, barrel racing, and true western grit. Even if you’ve never been to a rodeo before, this one is truly special.
July: Fireworks, Ferris Wheels & Fresh Produce
307 Fest – July 4
Casper celebrates the Fourth with an all-day event at the Ford Wyoming Center. Expect live music, great food, kids' games, and one of the best fireworks shows in the state. A lot of locals head out to Alcova Reservoir and watch from the water.
Central Wyoming Fair & Rodeo – July 4–12
If you grew up here, you know the fair isn’t just about rides and corn dogs, it’s a tradition. Parades, concerts, rodeos, and community booths make this a go-to for all ages. It’s also one of the busiest weeks for out-of-town visitors, so if you’re selling your home, it’s prime time to catch attention.
Saturday Morning Farmers Market – Begins July 27
Held every Saturday at the Ag Resource Center on Fairgrounds Road, this market runs through September. Whether you're stocking up on garden-fresh produce or chatting with local makers over coffee, it’s one of the best ways to start a weekend.
August: Live Music, Local Flavor & a Few Feathers
5150’ Festival – August 16
Named for Casper’s elevation, this downtown street festival celebrates the heart of the city with food trucks, vendor booths, live music, and plenty of room to dance (or just people-watch with a lemonade in hand). It's free, fun, and full of energy.
Riverfest & The Great Duck Derby – August 9
Thousands of rubber ducks racing down the river at Crossroads Park. There’s live music, craft beer, and food trucks, all supporting the Platte River Trails. It’s playful, it’s local, and it’s something we look forward to every summer.
What’s Always on the Calendar
Casper Art Walk – First Thursday of the Month (June through September)
When Thursday evening rolls around, the sidewalks downtown start to fill with live music, pop-up galleries, food trucks, and open doors at local businesses.
Wednesday Night Concerts at David Street Station
Every Wednesday during the summer, David Street Station turns into a front-row seat for live local music. Blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic baskets welcome. It’s relaxed, it’s free.
Cinema at the Station – Select Fridays
When the sun sets, the screen lights up. Family-friendly movies under the stars make Friday nights something special. Bring snacks, bring the kids.
If you’re thinking about buying or selling this season, there’s something to be said for timing. When folks are out walking their dogs, chatting at the farmers market, or wandering through open houses just to “see what’s out there,” that’s when the spark often happens. Someone spots a porch they can imagine decorating for fall. And just like that, the idea of moving becomes more than a thought, it becomes a conversation worth having.
